We have held several “Open Mic” events where participants shared music, dance, poetry, videos, and visual art. Below is the schedule for rest of 2007; all meetings take place on Saturday, in Higashi Kurume (Tokyo), and include a light dinner and a participatory program:
August 11:
BBQ/Open Mic in Chiba
September 8:
There will be a time of worship through music and scripture; we will also celebrate Nancy Nethercott’s Birthday and have a featured artist.
October 13:
Open Mic — Featured Artist will be announced later
November 10:
Featured Artist is CAN staff member Mark Miller, this will be a “Good Bye Party” for Mark who will return to the US in November.
December 8:
“Christmas Jam” – Bring your instrument and participate by playing and/or singing Christmas music
We announce details about our monthly meetings on the CAN mixi community so, if you want to be involved, write info@japancan.com and ask for an invitation to join the CAN community on mixi.
3. Updated Web Site
In July we made a number of improvements on the CAN web site, including new photo albums, a “Worship Leader’s Tool Kit” and new links. We are especially pleased that the dream of establishing an “Artist Directory” has been implemented. We are listing artists from a wide variety of genre including dance, music and the visual arts. If you are an artist who is a Christian and are interested in being listed in the Artist Directory contact us using this link
4. Mark’s Kansai Tour
Before he leaves for the US Mark Miller will do a Kansai Tour (September 28 – October 8, 2007). Mark is a singer/songwriter/guitar player with a heart for connecting with people and reaching them for Christ. I highly recommend Mark to you as a person who will do a great job for your church.
