Are you looking for a short or longer term missions opportunity where you can use your creative gifts and abilities? For qualified applicants, we have opportunities for those who have servant hearts, vision and gifts/abilities that they want to use to build up the church. There are many ways to be involved: translating, media, film making, writing, teaching, graphic design, web site design, worship leading, event planning, and other support roles.

The CAN “Artist-in-Residence” program offers tremendous freedom and opportunity to live in Japan and do what you love to do as a creative person. This is an unusual opportunity to both grow and contribute to missions in Japan. There are many options, including studio work, performing in mainstream &/or church settings, or studying art at a school in Tokyo. Due to the freedom given applicants must be familiar with Japan, self-motivated, and very dependable.

1. Why I want to be an Artist-In-Residence with JapanCAN
2. What I want to do in Japan (how you will spend your time). Be sure to demonstrate how what you want to do will contribute to building up the church in Japan.

(Great references, the ability to be independent, a positive attitude, dependability, and a heart for sharing the gospel with Japanese are all essential. Artist-In-Residence positions are very limited. All applicants who aren’t Japanese nationals will need to apply to a mission, usually to TEAM, and raise support.
